Tim is married to Flora Fletcher Hayes. They have two children and four grandchildren. Tim and Flora are members of the Logan Martin church of Christ in Pell City, Alabama. He serves as the minister and as one of the four elders.

Each year, he speaks in gospel meetings, lectureships and is involved in foreign missions especially in the Far East.
